PolyScan Family

PolyScan X Series

The PolyScan X Series integrates all of Polyrix technologies into a standard product line designed to meet different coverage, size and precision requirements for scanning industrial components. This product line includes the XS, XM, XL models and up to the XH, each designed to handle different inspection volumes, from small to huge, and cover different precision needs.

Every model of the X lineup shares the same optical components, pillar structure and software. However, the number of pillars and their size vary to accommodate the various part sizes. They all use vibration isolation, sturdy industrial design and stylish design lines.

PolyScan V Series

The V series stands for Versatile and is the ideal answer when further customization of the PolyScan is required. The V Series relies on flexible mounting structure and brackets that can easily be tailored to suit the required application. It can therefore adapt to space constraints, tailoring the scanning unit for a dedicated part or complex implementations.

The V Series uses the same software as the PolyScan X and thus benefits from the same technologies.

PolyScans Operate on the Polyrix Portal

The Polyrix Portal is a comprehensive software platform that serves as the central hub for all PolyScan systems. It integrates various Polyrix technologies, enabling users to plan, simulate, visualize, and automate their 3D scanning and inspection workflows from a single interface. Designed for flexibility and scalability, the Polyrix Portal is suitable for both small-scale operations and large-scale industrial environments.

Polyrix PolyScan Overview FAQs

The PolyScan X and PolyScan V Series are two lines of motionless, multi-sensor 3D industrial scanners designed by Polyrix for automated quality inspection. The X Series is a standard product line with standard models (XS, XM, XL, XH) tailored to different part sizes, space constraints and tolerance requirements, while the V Series is a custom-built structure to achieve greater versatility; often required for inline metrology systems.

Yes, both the PolyScan X and V Series use the same software suite (Polyrix Portal) and technology modules to setup, scan and optimize the systems.
Every Polyrix scanners, called PolyScans, use the same core technologies, including:
  • Surround.Scan™, a motionless, multi-sensor system that captures a part's entire surface without moving parts. All optical units in the system are networked together, allowing for complete coverage of even complex parts in a single scan.
  • Live.Inspection™ colour maps provide real-time feedback for rework and quality adjustments.
The models in the PolyScan X Series (XS, XM, XL, XH) differ primarily in their scan volume. Each PolyScan model is designed to meet different inspection needs, from small components to very large parts such as an automotive body-in-white or airplane blade or tail wing.
The "V" in PolyScan V Series stands for versatility. The V line is designed with a flexible mounting structure and brackets that are tailored to suit specific applications, space constraints, or complex implementations. The V series is often used for in-line applications, but it should be noted an X can work inline if space allows for it.
Using Fast.Scan™ technology, the PolyScan can complete a full part scan in as little as 20 seconds, remarkably faster than handheld or robotic scanners. Post-processing times depend on the number of features and computing power.

Live.Inspection™ is a patented Polyrix technology that turns any scanned part into a live display surface. Using the same structured-light projectors that perform 3D scanning, PolyScan reprojects relevant data directly onto the physical object.

Live.Inspection™ is a screenless augmented reality (AR) quality control solution that overlays CAD related information, tolerances, and guidelines directly onto part surfaces in real time, without need for additional screens or glasses, using the PolyScan projectors. Its most common use is as a color map, which enables operators to visually compare digital designs with physical parts.

Polyrix scanners use proprietary technologies and robust calibration protocols to ensure traceability and accuracy, even in dynamic and demanding manufacturing environments.
Polyrix scanners are used in various industries, including automotive, aerospace, medical devices, defence and industrial goods, for applications such as dimensional inspection, in-process quality assurance, and component inspection.
Yes, Polyrix scanners are designed for simplicity. They do not require complex software programs for trajectory planning or scan registration, have minimal fixturing requirements, and offer a low-maintenance design since there are no moving parts. Polyrix offers annual maintenance to customers, which includes certification of the system and any required updates to keep the PolyScan(s) working optimally.
