PolyScan XHFAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

The PolyScan XM is a HUGE-sized 3D scanning system engineered for industrial environments. It offers an ideal balance of precision and volume, making it well-suited for automotive, aerospace, and general manufacturing applications needed to scan large parts or finished goods, like a body-in-white (BIW) automobile. The system uses Surround.Scan™ technology to capture full-field 3D data quickly and accurately. Available in different configurations, the PolyScan XH is typically a 16-pillar structure.
The PolyScan XH combines our largest scanning volume with high-resolution optics and robust calibration techniques. It's volumetric accuracy is ±0.200 mm. When equipped with Calibration.Plus, it delivers volumetric accuracy up to ±0.040 mm—ideal for inspecting large parts like castings, subframes, and industrial assemblies such as underbody, side-body panels or complete body in white without sacrificing detail.
The PolyScan XH offers a unique combination of static scanning, no moving parts, full-field acquisition, and automation readiness. It features a rigid structure for shop-floor stability, optional Fast.Scan for rapid throughput, and a large-volume hemispherical field of view that eliminates the need for repositioning or tracking targets.
Yes. The PolyScan XH is fully automation-ready, with optional I/O, MES, and PLC connectivity. Its motionless architecture is ideal for integration into robotic workcells or conveyor-based inspection stations.
Industries that work with large, complex parts benefit the most—such as heavy automotive, aerospace, construction equipment, energy, and shipbuilding. The PolyScan XH’s large field of view and fast inspection capability make it ideal for these applications.
Thanks to Surround.Scan™ technology and its multi-angle sensor layout, the PolyScan XH captures deep recesses, complex contours, and sharp edges without blind spots. High-resolution projections and full-surface coverage enable the scanner to handle even the most detailed parts with ease.
The typical workflow includes fixture setup, scan planning, calibration verification (or automated recalibration with Calibration.Plus), automated scanning, and pass/fail inspection via Polyrix Lab. Results are visualized in real time and can be exported to various quality management systems.
The PolyScan XH is low maintenance due to its motionless design. Routine tasks include lens cleaning, system checks, and periodic calibration verification. Annual Certification, Support & Maintenance packages are available to ensure long-term reliability.
By providing fast, full-surface inspections, the PolyScan XH helps detect defects earlier, reduce rework, and shorten production delays. It improves process control and part traceability, and its non-contact operation reduces damage risk and operator variability. If you are looking to improve quality, reduce waste and keep your employees safe, the PolyScan XH delivers.
Polyrix provides comprehensive onboarding, including on-site and virtual training. Ongoing support includes software updates, remote diagnostics, and optional refresher courses. Custom integration and simulation services are also available.
